Personal Essay - Psych Central

The Project: I was asked to share my very personal journey to motherhood including IVF, miscarriage, multiple surgeries and postpartum anxiety and depression. This Mother's Day feature unpacked the various ways women experience childbirth. My essay became the lead piece in the robust package with original photography.

My Role: I wrote about two of the darkest times in my 40-something year-old life: trying to have a healthy baby and trying to be a healthy new mom to my baby. While it is never easy to relive these pivotal life moments, I know sharing stories like mine allows other people struggling with infertility and postpartum and anxiety (especially other Black women) to feel seen.
